About

Elisabeth Wetzer holds a Ph.D. in computerized image processing from Uppsala University and conducts research at the intersection of deep learning, representation learning, and biomedical image analysis. Her work focuses particularly on

  • Multimodal image analysis.
  • Geometric and structure-aware learning.
  • Integration of domain knowledge into machine-learning methods, with an application focus in medicine, health, and spatial biology.

Wetzer is a Principal Investigator in the Centre for Research-Based Innovation, Visual Intelligence and the Centre of Excellence for Knowledge-Driven Machine Learning, Integreat. She serves as Study Program Director for Artificial Intelligence at UiT. She is also actively involved in the machine learning community through the organization of scientific events, including the Northern Lights Deep Learning Conference and Winter School.

Wetzer is a founding Co-Director of [AI]² – Arctic Institute for AI in Science and Innovation.
